shadeism

Race and ethnicity are often viewed too simply, focusing on just a handful of skin tones. In reality, the spectrum of human skin tones are instead unlimited 'shades of brown'

For example, did you know that when an artist paints 'realistic' skin tones, the palette always includes a combination of various reds, yellows, browns, AND white? (...and sometimes even blues, greens, purples, and black! - just in different proportions and saturations.) This is because colour, nor human skin tones, are ever absolute the same every time).

how does a story change when skin colour changes?
